KNEES UGH

Well, couldn’t run today.  I twisted my right knee about a month ago and it has been giving me problems here and there.  Then last week, I went to let Mina (our basset) in off the chain and slipped on the frosted deck on the top of my left knee cap.  Oh my GOD did that hurt, plus a brush burn that scabbed over………………..and I think I did something to it.  So I have been hobbling around, especially up and down stairs………both ways, up and down kill. 

I REALLY felt like running today, especially cause we got the basement cleaned up on that side where I have equipment.  I was going to do the week 2 last day C25k run, and I made it through the first run, but felt it, then by the second run I had to just walk.  I did race walking style, LOL.  When running I could feel the tendon or what ever is under the knee cap hurt on both knees.  But walking didn’t seem to do that.  It also hurt when I was trying to just stand with feet apart knees slightly bent to do some exercises standing and some lifting. 

I hope that these knees don’t continually pain me and I can get back into running, or walk/running that I do.

Bob and I just talked about it this weekend.  In our 40’s it seemed like our eyes went to crap, now beginning our 50’s the body is going,  UGH!!!!!

Oatmeal or Oat Bran

imageHmmmm  I had oat bran for breakfast this morning.  I really like the texture of it.  I checked the nutritional info and it’s actually better than regular oatmeal  Smile  think I have a new favorite for breakfast Smile

New Stuff!

Ok I’ve been doing this blog mainly for my weight loss, low carb, diabeties, exercise, etc.  Now I plan to add more of my own life tidbits. 

I have personally reviewed and sent out information to family and friends on products for years.  Now I thought, “Why don’t I put the down in the blog?” then lots of people could look for an honest, non-company driven opinion on products.

I hope to see some personal comments to some of the products that I review, by you, so that people, as well as myself, can get a more well rounded idea of the product/food/gadget.

RECIPES!!  I also put a link to my recipes that I have acquired for family.  Sometime I plan on making a family cookbook, but I guess in fact… I have it’s just online.  I will be adding more to the cookbook as I try and tweak recipes.  Most of the recipes are tried and true family favorites.  I added them to the web for my daughters to have an easy place to quick look at them and use while at college.

While I’m at it I might as well add a page for diet reviews.  I think I have tried so many I might as well review how they worked.

OK, so  I took a LONG hiatus……………….

I did some exercising here and there, but not anything continuous.  I’m re-dedicating myself to walking/running, etc. Did 2.06 miles on the treadmill this afternoon.  Walk/Run for 40min.

The weather is getting nicer again to be outside so I hope to ramp up.

Bob had back surgery on July 6th and we both have gained weight with his recovery.  His because of lack of movement and I guess I was sympathy gaining  Smile with tongue out

He goes back to the doctor this Friday to see how things are and hopefully he can get back to exercising.  His endurance is low and he’ll have to start slow, but he is determined!  So I will be too.  I have a little advantage at the moment to get my butt going and maybe catch up to where he may be shortly.

Feelin’ good.

Yesterday around 4pm, I finally had the urge to go run………LOL.  Listening to music gets me pumped up.  I guess I need to use the music first to get me started then use it while I walk/run. 

I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill.  Not bad for rebooting my exercise program.  One of my runs, I actually ran,  I mean more than a good jog.  It felt good.  I wanted to go farther in my head, but my body said, whoooaaaa. don’t go out to fast.  So I quit at 3.5 and did some stomach work.  I feel really much better today.  I cut my carbs way back yesterday and so far today.  I have that kind of “heady” feeling today though.  Drank my water, which I need to get on doing right now.

I got on the scale this morning, dreading it, because I feared I gained quite a few pounds since the holidays, but I was only up 3lbs from my lowest so far.  Smile  Thank goodness.  I was ‘feeling’ like I really gained, but I think from the non exercise, I felt flubby………. 

I’m hoping I FINALLY have my head back on straight to get moving and finish this job!  Besides, summer is coming and I want to feel great!

OK TO DRINK !!!!

So I’ve been wondering about this forever… I finally called the doctor and she said it’s ok to drink in moderation!!!!   Yipppee!!  I can do that.  I should eat something with it, I can do that too!

I should have called a long time ago, LOL

An ‘ugh’ day

Felt good this morning.  Went for my walk/run, but ended up only doing 2 miles, ugh.

Did my stomach, arm, chest work, and did a little leg work (squats, quad lifts on the bowflex), but didn’t feel like it was going great.  But at least I got a work out in today.

Checked my blood sugar and is was only 65!  Could be good and bad……..good that my body didn’t feel it needed to dump sugar into my system to raise it, but bad because that’s probably why I didn’t feel so great too.  I’ll have to check before I exercise and if it’s low’ish, I’ll eat some carbs then exercise.  I also need to check with the doctor in April and she may need to lower my dose of Metformin.

I had a leftover chicken breast with mayo/honey mustard on the side to dip in for lunch, and I found Diet Ocean Spray cranberry juice!  For a full cup (8oz) it is only 2 carbs.  Smile ……..Juice!!  real juice!  LOL  I mixed it with some sprite zero and it was awesome!

I’m researching the ‘no drinking’ while on metformin thing,  he he he.  The more I read the more I see that people are drinking while taking it and it doesn’t effect them and that it is RARE to get Lactic Acidosis when combining the two.  But I haven’t had a drink since last April………………so I don’t need it, but it would be nice for my 50th to have a drink.INFO

I did find an imported NA beer that I like and have with Pizza or when I feel like a beer.  St. Paulie Girl’s NA beer is really good.  More like an ale taste to me.

Darn Treadmill !!!

I wanted to run today but kept putting it off………talked to everyone on the phone today, worked on the computer, etc.   Finally at 4:20pm I made it to the treadmill.  I was doing really decent.  Pace was great.  Music was awesome……….going going going pace was 2 min faster than Saturday’s 5 mile run……..Bob comes home………I’m still walking/ running………cool  I’m gonna go 6 miles…..breathing is great feel like I could go forever……….feet a little hot in the shoes, but doing good.  CRAP……..the treadmill shuts down at 99min……..I mean completely stops mid stride.  It stopped at 5.86 miles……..so I quit and did my stomach, arm and chest work………DAMN  I really wanted to see that 6 mile mark, but once it stops for me I’m done!    

Then while trying to do my stomach, arm and chest work my mp3 player goes freaky……..I had it in the front of my bra to hold it………well it is a very convenient spot to keep it, lol… sweating on it might have did it in.

Anyway………..had a GREAT work out today even if I got it in late.  18.3 min miles on Saturday and today was 16.45.  Trying to get it down to a respectable time  Smile

Workout

I didn’t feel like working out today but did anyway. Feel good now that I did.

Walk/run 2 miles. Then did chest and arm work and lots o’ crunches!!!!
