Feelin’ good.

Yesterday around 4pm, I finally had the urge to go run………LOL.  Listening to music gets me pumped up.  I guess I need to use the music first to get me started then use it while I walk/run.

I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill.  Not bad for rebooting my exercise program.  One of my runs, I actually ran,  I mean more than a good jog.  It felt good.  I wanted to go farther in my head, but my body said, whoooaaaa. don’t go out to fast.  So I quit at 3.5 and did some stomach work.  I feel really much better today.  I cut my carbs way back yesterday and so far today.  I have that kind of “heady” feeling today though.  Drank my water, which I need to get on doing right now.

I got on the scale this morning, dreading it, because I feared I gained quite a few pounds since the holidays, but I was only up 3lbs from my lowest so far.  Smile  Thank goodness.  I was ‘feeling’ like I really gained, but I think from the non exercise, I felt flubby……….

I’m hoping I FINALLY have my head back on straight to get moving and finish this job!  Besides, summer is coming and I want to feel great!

OK TO DRINK !!!!

So I’ve been wondering about this forever… I finally called the doctor and she said it’s ok to drink in moderation!!!!   Yipppee!!  I can do that.  I should eat something with it, I can do that too!

I should have called a long time ago, LOL

Cheers!  NOW BRING ME THAT MARTINI  LOL

An ‘ugh’ day

Felt good this morning.  Went for my walk/run, but ended up only doing 2 miles, ugh.

Did my stomach, arm, chest work, and did a little leg work (squats, quad lifts on the bowflex), but didn’t feel like it was going great.  But at least I got a work out in today.

Checked my blood sugar and is was only 65!  Could be good and bad……..good that my body didn’t feel it needed to dump sugar into my system to raise it, but bad because that’s probably why I didn’t feel so great too.  I’ll have to check before I exercise and if it’s low’ish, I’ll eat some carbs then exercise.  I also need to check with the doctor in April and she may need to lower my dose of Metformin.

I had a leftover chicken breast with mayo/honey mustard on the side to dip in for lunch, and I found Diet Ocean Spray cranberry juice!  For a full cup (8oz) it is only 2 carbs.  Smile ……..Juice!!  real juice!  LOL  I mixed it with some sprite zero and it was awesome!

I’m researching the ‘no drinking’ while on metformin thing,  he he he.  The more I read the more I see that people are drinking while taking it and it doesn’t effect them and that it is RARE to get Lactic Acidosis when combining the two.  But I haven’t had a drink since last April………………so I don’t need it, but it would be nice for my 50th to have a drink.INFO

I did find an imported NA beer that I like and have with Pizza or when I feel like a beer.  St. Paulie Girl’s NA beer is really good.  More like an ale taste to me.

Dosage

I’m going to try taking my metformin at 12 hour intervals again. I’ve been taking it whenever I eat my breakfast or dinner. Testing to see if it makes any difference.

Got a 5 mile walk/run in yesterday! I was going to go for 20 min. but as I was going it felt really good and I just kept going. On the treadmill, mind you. I could have kept going because “wind” wise I was great! The only reason I had to stop was the ball of my right foot was getting a major hot spot. Managed not to get a blister, thank God.

I plan to up my milage and eat lower carbs. Yadda yadda yadda. Hopefully I can get back on the weighloss track.

Back to Basics……….

I NEED TO GET BACK ON TRACK!

Since the holidays I’ve been stagnant.  Not gaining, not losing, not exercising, not being careful in my diet.

I need a BIG kick in the butt.  I’m going to return to the beginning of my blog and re-read.  Hopefully to give me that motivation to keep on………………

I’m only on one HBP med and hopefully will get off that in April when I see the doctor next.  I am still taking the Metformin, which was horrible in the beginning, but my body has accepted it and it is great for BS.  If I have to take that for the rest of my life, I might be ok with that, if it lets me maintain a ‘normal’ diet without my blood sugar getting out of whack.  But if I can maintain it with just exercise and diet and no med…….

I alway feel so much better when I’m exercising…………….JUST DO IT.  Geeze….to anyone else that has been through a lull in their exercise, get moving!  I took enough of a break.  Maybe I needed it.  Maybe I needed to be still and enjoy.  Maybe this break will give me the motivation to start anew.

Down 36

Down 36lbs, only 4lbs to make it 40.  Hope I can do that before I see the Doctor.  Cause on their scale with clothes on, lol,  it will be more like 36lbs.

Spent yesterday moving lumber, chairs, junk wood from the backyard.  Starting to build the sides of the water falls with rock.  Lots of hard work but it will look great when we’re done.

PSU plays Ohio State on Saturday at 3:30pm.

GO PSU!   WE ARE……..PENN STATE!

Back it up a bit to LCarb

Well, I’ve remained at the same weight now for a month, so I’m going to start taking down my carb level again.  I seemed to do best in the very beginning when I was ‘scared’ to eat them for fear of my sugar levels going up.  But I have gradually added back in ‘good’ carbs and I LOVE THEM, LOL, like peanut butter on a thin wheat bagel for breakfast, YUM,  and half a sandwich on double fiber bread, and popcorn.

This isn’t the best week to start this however because Bob is going to run a marathon on Sunday and needs to carb load, HA!  Well, I guess I’ll just give him all my carbs.  I’m not going to cut them out but I am going to cut back and see what happens.

I’m kind of at my half way point in  weight loss. My body does seem to be responding to taking care of the sugar in my body and my sugar levels have been good.  Running minus 32lbs is much easier!  Can’t wait to see what if feels like at goal.

The doctor did cut back on one of my blood pressure meds, so that’s a great thing.

Crossing Fingers

Well, I’m on day 3 of my restart for running.  It felt really good again today, I upped it another notch and did 2.5 miles and added more running time.

I checked my blood sugar a couple hours after running and it was 85.  Then I ate an apple and 1/2 a corned beef sandwich on double fiber bread with mayo for lunch.  I then checked my sugar again before dinner and it was still 85!  YAY!  The medication I take won’t let my blood sugar go too low, so that’s a good thing.  I checked Bob’s sugar and his was 100, and he didn’t eat lunch.  So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe with more weight loss and continued exercise that I can be ‘cured’ or be normal.  I really hope to get off the meds and maintain my health with diet and exercise.  I really think that exercise is the key…..(did I say that?)  GOD…………  I actually said to Bob the other day that I have really FELT like getting back into running and that it has been feeling good to run………seriously I think an alien came down and swapped out brains or something…

I’m just about 1/2 way to goal.  It did go really fast in the beginning, then slowed, then for the last month was stagnant.  But I’m recommitting myself and am raring to go to make the last haul and get r done.

I’mmmm Baaaaaccckkk…

I’m back smile_omg!  Not that I ever took off from my goal, but I did slack on the running part.  But today I started back by doing the couch 2 5K week 2 run and added a 13 min. core/low impact work out.  FELT GREAT .

Being down 31.5lbs, really helped the effort.  I can run more effortlessly. YEAH!!  Hoping to get close to goal before I visit the doctor again in November.  I hope I can get off meds!!!!!

As for my Achilles tendon, I cut the back of my running shoes today so it doesn’t push on the ‘spot’ and guess what?  It worked.  So far so good.  I’m wondering if my darn shoes are to blame for the pain.  Constant pounding back there by my shoe?  Bob has been urging me to go to A Running Start and let them match me up with the shoe I need……..

Anyway, I’m back on the serious track and am not getting off until I’m done!  LOL

Back Home

Arrived back home last night after 2 very long driving days from Colorado.  Lauren’s new apartment is cute and we got a lot accomplished in a few days trying to get her set up before we had to leave to come home.  Her blog is www.laurenstout.com and she has some pictures up of the apartment.

I didn’t get to exercise as much out there, but we did a hike at dinosaur ridge and the Denver museum.  Plus walking in the morning down the street and back.  But I’m happy to say that I didn’t gain an ounce!!  Didn’t lose any, but didn’t gain any.  I’m happy with that considering sitting in the car for 5 days.

I plan on getting back in the swing of concentrating on health again after a few more days of mothering….concentrating on getting April packed up for her move into her new apartment at PSU. We will get her moved in this next weekend.  We are combining it with a camping weekend with the Drzal’s.  So we should get some relaxing camping time too.  Can’t wait.

WHEN IS THIS HEAT GOING TO BE OVER???
