New Stuff!

Ok I’ve been doing this blog mainly for my weight loss, low carb, diabeties, exercise, etc.  Now I plan to add more of my own life tidbits.

I have personally reviewed and sent out information to family and friends on products for years.  Now I thought, “Why don’t I put the down in the blog?” then lots of people could look for an honest, non-company driven opinion on products.

I hope to see some personal comments to some of the products that I review, by you, so that people, as well as myself, can get a more well rounded idea of the product/food/gadget.

RECIPES!!  I also put a link to my recipes that I have acquired for family.  Sometime I plan on making a family cookbook, but I guess in fact… I have it’s just online.  I will be adding more to the cookbook as I try and tweak recipes.  Most of the recipes are tried and true family favorites.  I added them to the web for my daughters to have an easy place to quick look at them and use while at college.

While I’m at it I might as well add a page for diet reviews.  I think I have tried so many I might as well review how they worked.

Early Christmas Present!

Well, I had the 6 month check up at the doctor.  The one I’ve been working toward and I’m very, very pleased!  So is the doctor!

I went from a A1C level  (blood sugar level of last 3 months) of 6.8  to a Non-diabetic level of 5.7 !!!! Yeah!!!

Also, my cholesterol dropped from 246 to 192 !  I told her I haven’t taken the simvastatin yet that she gave me and she was really pleased that it dropped like that without the meds and that I did it with diet and exercise.

My Triglycerides was 289 and now 155, and my HDL went up from 34 to 35. So she would like me to start taking a half dose of the simvastin until I can get the Trigl. below 150.

I am also able to get OFF of one of my high blood pressure medications all together (the other one, which I will stay on was lowered last month).  She wants me to still take the Metformin, which is the one for the blood sugar, because it is really helping me, and no need to get off that one yet until I get to goal and hopefully will be able regulate my BS without it.

All my other tests for liver function and kidney function were good and no problems.

I really feel like I got an early Christmas present.  I am also thankful for all who have supported me and prayed for me.

And the journey continues………….

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Congrats Joe Pa

Had a great weekend RV camping/tailgating at the PSU game.  Saw Joe Paterno’s 400th win against Northwestern.  Before the half it was sad, but Sue said if they get a touchdown right before the half that should fire them up.  Well it did!  It was an awesome game and tailgating in “RV City” was really fun.  It was a really COLD weekend, but I think we were all prepared.  LOTS of food, beer, and fun.  We got to visit with April, Matt, Nate, Steph and Steph, and of course Frank and Sue who camped with us.  We are definitely going to do it again, maybe a couple times, next season.  Take our motor home and their camper and put them front to front and make an area between to party.  It will be awesome, and then we will also have more room for kids to sleep over  smile_regular.

I’m down 34lbs as of this morning!  I’ve been watching my carbs again since last week and this weekend I kind of pieced on meals here and there and walked a lot!  So that was boost this morning.

I go back to the doctor next week for my 6 month check up and I’m hoping that when I get weighed with clothes on (lol) I’m at least 30lbs down on their scale.

I’ve gone from a size almost 20 to a comfortable 14.  Yay!  Looking forward to losing the final 44lbs.

The 3 H’s

Hot, Hazy, HUMID!  Can’t wait for this heat wave to be over.  I mean, it’s only June not August.  Sometimes you get days in June like this but not continuous over 90’ days for weeks.  It’s suppose to break today, let’s hope.

Yesterday Bob and I thought we would hike to Pulpit Rock on the ATrail, maybe onto the Pinnacle……………….UGH!!  it was so hot and almost straight up for miles……I can run faster right now and feel good, but a constant up hill with no breaks or switchbacks in over 90’ was too much.  I made it a mile up and came back down.  So at least I did go out, I did 2 hard miles, in the heat.  I wish I could have gone farther, but I was feeling sick to my stomach and decided it was better to hike back down the mountain.

I’m learning that when I do vigorous exercise, my body definitely releases glucose and then insulin, and that’s when I feel sick to my stomach.  If I just go out and walk or jog, or do something, anything for a little while, I get the exercise benefit and not the glucose/insulin spike.  But the vigorous stuff helps in weight loss.

My weight has started to drop again, finally!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!
